01 / Limitations
Planning charts, not certified ECDIS
Our nautical charts are for passage planning and situational awareness. Where your jurisdiction requires certified ECDIS carriage, you will still need it alongside NavTrax.
Best effort on emergency messaging
SOS escalates over every channel available to it and keeps trying. No software can promise a message will leave a valley, so please plan on that basis.
Field measurement, not survey grade
Measurement and field capture are precise and their method is documented. For work requiring survey accuracy you will want RTK software and a licensed surveyor.
Third-party data keeps its own terms
Two hundred of our sources are published by other organizations, each with its own license, accuracy and update cadence. We show all three on every layer so you can judge it for yourself.
Satellite airtime is billed by your operator
We integrate the devices and show you the real plans, but airtime is a contract between you and the network operator. We do not resell it or mark it up.
02 / Your obligations
- Lawful use
- Including airspace, land access, protected areas and maritime regulation in the jurisdiction you are in.
- Layer licenses
- Where a layer permits non-commercial use only, commercial use of its output is your responsibility. We surface the license so the decision can be made.
- Emergency features
- Please test them before you rely on them, and carry a means of calling for help that does not depend on us.
- Account security
- Credentials are yours. Organization administrators are responsible for the access they grant.
03 / Ours
- Availability
- The product is offline-first by design, so a service outage does not stop you navigating. Service level commitments are contractual on Enterprise.
- Changes
- Material changes to the terms or to pricing are announced before they take effect. A published price is honoured for the term you bought.
- Data
- Yours. Export is documented and leaving does not require our cooperation.
- Security
- We address and disclose security issues. We do not currently run a public bug bounty program, and we would rather say so than leave it ambiguous.
