03 / Failure modes
Every activity in NavTrax carries a documented failure-mode list, and each entry names the feature that addresses it. Not a disclaimer — a design input.
The single most common way an overland trip ends. NavTrax tracks OBD-II fault codes against your service history and flags a developing problem while you are still somewhere that can fix it — not four hundred kilometers past it.
Border layers carry the crossing’s actual requirements and recent traveler reports. The route planner treats a crossing as a waypoint with a precondition, so a missing carnet surfaces during planning.
Drop messages and group relay mean a compromised vehicle is reported to your party over mesh even where there is no cellular service to call anyone.
Recorded incident reports on the crossing, contributed by the community layer, with dates. Not a rumor — a dated entry you can plan around.
Wound triage runs on the device. The medical layer shows the nearest facility with the capability you actually need, and the contingency plan already names it.
