An assistant that needs a connection is an assistant that stops working exactly when you have a question worth asking. NavTrax runs classification and app-level reasoning on the handset, and escalates to the cloud only when a link exists and the question genuinely needs it.

02 / How it works
The mechanism, not the promise.
- Model router
- Every query is scored for what it actually needs. Most are answered by an on-device classifier or the bundled knowledge base, and never leave the handset.
- TFLite classifiers
- Wound assessment, plant and wildlife identification, celestial recognition and audio classification, all running locally.
- Bundled knowledge base
- A curated wilderness and medical corpus shipped with the app, so a grounded answer is possible with the radio off.
- Connectivity gate
- Escalation to retrieval or a frontier model happens only when a link exists and the escalation would actually improve the answer.
- Suggested actions
- An answer can propose a concrete action — drop a waypoint, retask a drone, arm an alert — which a human then authorizes.
