Neither CarPlay nor Android Auto renders your app's interface. Both are template systems, and that constraint is correct: the head unit draws a certified, distraction-safe UI and your app supplies data. NavTrax ships a deliberately minimal surface.

02 / How it works
The mechanism, not the promise.
- Template mapping
- One NavTrax template type maps to a CarPlay and an Android Auto primitive, so the surface is defined once. A list is a CPListTemplate and a ListTemplate; a map is a CPMapTemplate and a NavigationTemplate.
- Row clamping
- Android Auto caps driving lists at six rows, so the shared safety layer clamps every list to six while moving rather than shipping two different limits.
- Canned messages only
- Free-text entry is disabled while driving on both platforms. All OK, running late, need fuel, need assistance.
- Guarded SOS
- The emergency entry is an alert template requiring explicit confirmation before it broadcasts over cellular, mesh and satellite.
- Native wiring
- A single method channel carries connect, disconnect and selection events one way, and present, update-maneuver and pop the other.
