02 / How it works
The mechanism, not the promise.
- Trigger
- A held SOS control, a missed check-in, or a health threshold crossing. All three land in the same chain.
- Guarded confirmation
- An explicit confirmation step before anything is sent. On Android Auto and CarPlay this is a dedicated alert template, and free-text entry is disabled while driving.
- Packet assembly
- Position, party size, vitals where available, the last filed plan and the route remaining.
- Fan-out
- Group broadcast first because it is instant and free, then mesh flood with per-hop acknowledgment, then satellite, then cellular and the local emergency number where coverage exists.
- SAR handoff
- A packet built for the people who will actually come: terrain, landing-zone options, medical state and your party’s own capability.
