02 / How it works
The mechanism, not the promise.
- Normalization
- Units, sample rates and gaps are reconciled before anything is compared. A watch that samples every five minutes and a chest strap that samples every second must not produce different conclusions.
- Personal baseline
- Learned per member over time. Thresholds are expressed as deviation from that baseline.
- Threshold engine
- Exertion, hypoxia, hypothermia and dehydration, each with a defined signal combination rather than a single number.
- Behavioral prediction
- Decision quality degrades with fatigue before physiology does. Sleep and exertion history feed a decision-quality signal the leader can see.
- Escalation
- A crossed threshold arms the emergency chain. It never fires it — a human authorizes every broadcast.

Privacy the member controls
What leaves your device is your decision, including when it travels through somebody else’s radio on the mesh.
Vehicle telemetry fusion
OBD-II, tire pressure, coolant and fuel range alongside the crew, because on an overland trip the vehicle is a party member.
Environmental context
Altitude, temperature and wind chill, so a heart rate is read against the conditions producing it.
Works offline
Fusion and thresholds run on the device. The dashboard reaches the leader over mesh.
Not a medical device
Stated plainly. This is expedition risk monitoring, not diagnosis, and the app says so where it matters.
