Most apps ship a handful of basemaps and call the rest "premium". NavTrax ships a catalog: 200-plus registered sources, grouped into fourteen categories, each carrying its provider, attribution, license, update frequency and coverage envelope. You can read all of that before you download a single tile.

Fourteen categories, because the ground is not one thing.

A slope-angle raster answers a different question than a bathymetric chart, which answers a different question than a wildfire perimeter. The category structure exists so the right question is one tap away rather than buried in a list of two hundred names.

A source you cannot audit is a source you should not trust.

Every entry in the catalog is a full record, not a name and a URL. This is what the app stores and shows for each one.

Provider
The organization that publishes the data — NASA, NOAA, ESA, Copernicus, USGS, FEMA, WRI, Esri, CARTO, OpenStreetMap and others.
Attribution
The exact credit string, rendered on screen whenever the layer is visible. Not buried in a settings page.
License
ODbL, CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, public domain, NASA Open Data, or a named commercial term of service.
Update frequency
Continuous, 5–10 minutes, hourly, daily, weekly, annual, or explicitly static with the vintage year.
Coverage
Global, regional or national, with the actual latitude bounds where they matter — SRTM stops at 60°N.
Data type
Vector, raster, WMS, API or GeoJSON. Determines how it caches and how it composites.
Endpoint
The tile or service URL, where the license permits publishing it.

Your data is a first-class layer.

Bring a tile URL, a WMS endpoint, a GeoJSON file or a shapefile export. It joins the catalog with the same metadata fields, the same offline behavior and the same attribution surface as anything NASA publishes.

Tile and WMS endpoints

Paste a {z}/{x}/{y} template or a WMS GetMap URL. The layer wizard probes it, works out the zoom range and projection, and registers it.

Vector uploads

GeoJSON, KML and shapefile exports become styled vector layers with attribute-driven symbology.

Organization layers

On Enterprise, a layer published by an organization appears for every member automatically, scoped by role — so a cut-block boundary or a lease outline reaches the whole crew without anybody emailing a file.

Community layers

Users can publish a layer to the community catalog. Moderated, attributed, and clearly labeled as community-sourced rather than authoritative.
